Fire trucks, bands and dancers made their way down Main Street in Ville Platte in celebration of the Cotton Festival.

"Its cotton festival! Its fun, its tradition!."  says Mayor Jennifer Vidrine.

The festival includes a Carnival, the Grand Parade and a Tournoi.

"The Running of the Tournoi happens after the parade. Its when jostlers on horses catch seven rings which represents the seven things that can kill cotton."

The 65th annual Cotton queen was crowned Saturday night.

Queen Abigail Fruge explains why its more than a dream come true.

"I feel amazing. Cotton was a big jump start for my family in Evangeline back when they still grew it."

The Cotton Festival is held every October.
