Seaqual to show sustainable creativity at Première Vision
Seaqual will bring together creativity and eco-responsibility at Premiere Vision Paris beginning September 19. Recognized by its peers for its innovative environmental approach, 5 fabrics made from the fibres of Seaqual will be exhibited at the new ''Smart Materials'' zone during the three-day exhibition, an area dedicated to responsible creation.
Seaqual creates and manages collaborations between industry, NGOs, communities and local and national authorities to up-cycle plastic marine waste. Launched in 2016, Seaqual became the first ingredient brand to use fishing vessels and other ocean cleaning programmes to collect and up-cycle plastic waste before returning it to industry under the name Seaqual Polymer.
Seaqual Fibre is a starting point for a cleaner ocean, a fiber for an environmentally conscious textile market. Seaqual Fibre has physical properties almost identical to virgin polyester and is available in a wide variety of sizes and finishes (continuous filaments and staple fibers). Seaqual Fibre can be used for a multitude of applications including textiles for fashion, sports, denim, lingerie, swimwear and footwear but also for home furnishings, automotive upholstery or non-woven fabrics. Brands can unleash their creativity while allowing consumers to help clean up the oceans.
The organisers have chosen to incorporate Seaqual Fabrics in their selection at the fair. Five new fabrics will be highlighted at ''Smart Materials'' which will illustrate some of the creativity offered by Seaqual Fibre, Seaqual said in a press release.
Textil Santanderina will present a wonderful woven fabric in 100 per cent Seaqual Fibre, ideal for technical sports jackets and bags.
Lemar will offer a wonderfully versatile fabric in a light weight woven. It’s beautiful, subtle structure makes it a favourite for men''s swim shorts where designers are looking for more texture. Made with 35 per cent Seaqual Fibre, this fabric perfectly meets the rapidly growing necessity for sustainable fibers in this segment.
Textil Santanderina''s lightweight denim for women''s shirts, kimonos and dresses eliminatescotton completely, preferring instead to combine the sustainability credentials of Lyocell (70%) and Seaqual Fibre (30%).
The Sampaio''s collection will include organic merino (73%) and Seaqual Fibre (27%), a luxuriously soft and sustainable mid-weight fabric.
Sofileta will display a superb fine gauge single jersey knit of Seaqual Fibre (74%) and eco-friendly elastomer (26%). This beautifully versatile 40 gauge knit with great power and opacity is equally ideal for swimwear and intimates as it is for shape-wear and leggings.
