Egypt working with industry to restore cotton reputation

Egypt’s agriculture ministry is collaborating with the industry there to develop the country’s cotton sector further and diversify its uses in the industry, thereby improving the quality of products manufactured by using Egyptian cotton and making it more appealing to global markets, according to minister for trade and industry Amr Nassar.

Nasser recently met chairman of the Cotton Egypt Association (CEA) Wael Olama in this regard.

The CEA conducts awareness campaigns in major retail chains in the United Kingdom, as well as the Europe, the United States, India, Turkey, China and Pakistan.

CEA is at present implementing a plan to increase the rates of production and export of cotton, readymade garments and textiles, a report in an Egyptian daily quoted Nassar as saying.
